A US pet tech startup wanted a mid‑to‑high‑end smart pet water fountain with “4‑stage filtration + UVC LED instant sterilization”. The goal was to differentiate from ordinary fountains that only filter, targeting pet urinary health.
Challenges
- 2.5L water tank; every drop must pass UVC irradiation during circulation.
- UVC module fully submersible, but LEDs must not shine directly into pet eyes.
- Low noise – silent pump and UVC driver.
- FCC and UL certification.
Solution
- Water path: Tank → pump → filter → quartz glass tube with LYD L804 UVC module (275nm, IP68) → water outlet.
- Safety: UVC only active during circulation; auto‑cutoff when lid opens.
- Noise reduction: Ceramic pump shaft + silicone mounts; UVC driver frequency above human hearing range.
- Smart features: Water level monitoring, filter change reminder, UV self‑clean cycle (15 min every 6 hours).
We provided the complete flow‑through sterilization solution and assisted with UL/FCC certification. From prototype to mass production: 5 months.
